Learn professional pattern-making processes step by step
Apply them immediately by creating full patterns
Repeat techniques to build confidence and understanding
Pattern making processes you'll learn
Fly fronts and mock fly fronts
A variety of pocket styles (cutaway, inseam, jet and welt)
Creating relaxed shaping for elastic-waist pants
Shaped and straight waistbands
Different leg shapes and proportions
Design lines and panels for pants and jeans
Pleats, flaring, gathering, cuffs, hems, splits and shaping details
Many of these techniques - such as dart manipulation, inserting design lines, flaring and gathering - can also be used to alter and design patterns for tops and dresses, giving you skills that extend well beyond pants.
The Pants You’ll Design
Elastic-Waist Pants
Incorporating a fly or mock fly, pockets of your choice, and relaxed shaping.
Jeans
Create your own jeans pattern with a detailed fly, riser, pockets, leg shaping and optional panels or design lines.
Tailored Pants
Design tailored pants with your choice of leg shape, pockets, pleats, cuffs, hems and finishing details.

About your tutor
Previously working as a nurse and midwife for 27 years Colleen was burned out and needed a change.
She quit her job and continued her studies in fashion design, landed a job in the fashion industry, and worked freelance as a sample maker and pattern maker.
She created her own fashion label Addison Ash in 2015.
Recently, she realised how healing it had been to be creative, and felt that she could help others with their creativity.

What if I cant attend one of the sessions?
If you can’t make it to a class, you can come to a catch-up freestyle session at a convenient time within the 10 weeks, and I can teach you what you missed.
However, I do prefer to keep the course together if possible.

What do I need to bring?
Nothing initially
Initially, all we need is your measurements which we will take in class.
All the equipment, card and calico is supplied for this course whilst you're creating your block.
Once you've made your block, you'll need to bring your block and your patterns to class each week

Equipment
The studio is fully equiped with enough sewing machines and overlockers for everyone, (there is a maximum of 4 people in this course). However if you wish to bring your own machine you are most welcome to.
Otherwise, all equipment is supplied.

Do you have a course cancellation policy?
When you pay your course fees you secure your spot (1 of a possible 4) in the course.
At least 1 week's notice of cancellation is required to facilitate a refund of 90% of the course cost.
Cancellation of the course within 1 week of the course starting date will result in full loss of investment.

Do you have a general class cancellation policy?

Cancellation within 24 hours of the class start time will result in a loss of that session.
If more than 24 hours notice of cancellation is given, rescheduling to another date or time of your convenience is facilitated.
This policy relates to all booked classes, single Freestyle classes and classes booked as a part of a block of classes, course sessions or make up classes for courses.

The studio is in Shop 38 Regent Arcade, 101 Rundle Mall, Adelaide, SA 5000
Located in the city centre convenient to all bus routes, train and tram. There's also a couple of carparks nearby.
